Replacing the adjustment probe (M54)
1. Read and erase information in the fault memory.
Note:
- Before removing the control lambda probe, it is necessary to disconnect the plug connection.
- If the detachable connection is located under the protective cover of the injectors:
- In this case, remove the lower part of the microfilter housing.
2. Remove the protective cover of the injectors.
3. Loosen the fastening clamp and release the lambda probe wire.
4. Disconnect the connector of the regulating lambda probe.
5. Disconnect the lambda probe using tool 117020.
Note:
- The threads of the new lambda probes are already lubricated with Never Seez Compound.
- When installing a used lambda probe, lubricate only the threaded part with a thin and even layer of Never Seez Compound paste (see BMW Parts Delivery Service materials).
- Do not clean or allow the part of the lambda probe located in the exhaust pipe to come into contact with grease.
6. Tighten the lambda probe using tool 117020.
Tightening torque: 50 Nm.
Note: Make sure the lambda probe cable is routed correctly.
7. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.
