Removal and installation the heater cable (BMW 3 Series E30)
Removal
Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
Remove the trim under the dashboard on the left side. To do this, turn it 90° and pull out 5 clips.
Remove the center console (see section "Removal and installation the center console and shelf under the dashboard").
Remove the radio receiver (see section "Removal and installation the radio").
Put your hand into the cutout under the radio receiver and press the switches or plugs from the switch strip from the back side. Disconnect the connectors from the switches.
Unscrew the 2 screws under the remote control and pull out the heater control panel a little.

Press clamp "1" and disconnect cable "2" from slide regulator "3".

Press the clamp in the area of the air damper and disconnect the cable from the air damper.
Pull out the cable, while monitoring its routing.
Installation

Connect the cable to the air damper lever and press the cable sheath "1" to the holder so that it is at the level of the stop 2. In this position, press the clamp.
Connect the cable to the slide regulator and set the regulator to the extreme left position ("closed"),
Close the air damper by pressing the air damper lever against the stop.
Attention: When installing the mixing temperature flap cable, turn the knurled nut to set the mixing flap to the extreme "cold" or "warm" position and at the same time set the temperature setting handle to the extreme "cold" or "warm" position.
Rotate the sleeve on the free end of the cable until it fits into the slot in the holder.
Secure the bushing and thus the cable with clamp "1" (W-5206).
Press the heater control panel and secure it with the 2 lower screws.
Place the connectors on the switches and insert the switches or plugs into the switch strip.
Install the radio receiver (see section "Removal and installation the radio").
Install the center console (see section "Removal and installation the center console and shelf under the dashboard").
Place the trim under the dashboard and secure it with 5 clamps.
Connect the ground wire to the battery.
