Removal and installation the heater (BMW 5 Series E12)

Removal

Remove the storage shelf and storage box.

Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

Set the heater valve control switch to the "Warm" position.

Partially drain the fluid from the engine cooling system and disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses of the heater radiator.

Remove the plate together with the foam rubber seal.

Remove the center trim panel from the bottom of the instrument panel.

Disconnect the heater control wiring from the instrument panel.

Using pliers, press on the safety pins and disconnect the control rods from the hinges.

Disconnect the heater control connector.



Remove the mounting plugs and remove the cover.

Remove the center shield at the top of the instrument panel, take out the connector.

Remove the block and disconnect wire No.7 from it.

Loosen the screw and lift the bracket bracket.

Loosen the mounting screws and remove the upper partition (in the engine compartment).

Unscrew the nuts, remove the ring spring, washer and sponge rubber gasket.

Remove the heater with the right-hand control cables.

Installation

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:

• replace the plastic mounting plugs with new ones;
• set the heater control switch, hydraulic valve control handles and air distributors to the extreme left position;
• connect the control rods to the hinges;
• press the instrument panel cover firmly against the hose partition. Secure it by tightening the hose fasteners;
• fill the engine cooling system with fluid and bleed air from it.
