Front axle design (BMW 3 Series E36)

BMW 3-series cars have a front axle with shock absorber struts. Each shock absorber strut consists of a coil spring and a built-in shock absorber. The shock absorber strut is attached to the body at the top through a support bearing, and is bolted to the wheel hub at the bottom.

Lateral control of the shock absorbers is carried out by the lower sickle-shaped transverse levers, fixed to the front axle beam via rubber-metal supports. The anti-roll bar provides better grip of the front wheels with the road surface.
