Accelerator pedal — removal and installation (BMW 3 Series E46)

Attention! If you had to remove the accelerator pedal, it will have to be replaced. When removing the pedal, its fastening parts will be damaged. This will create extra play and reduce control precision, which can cause an accident.

Models with cable throttle

1. Press down on the carpet under the pedal, then bend back the lower pedal clips. Use the lever to release the pedal from the floor (Fig. 6.1). Release the pedal from the cable control lever. Discard the pedal - you will have to install a new one.



2. Attach the throttle cable control lever to the new pedal.

3. Push the pedal down until the lower tabs engage the floor panel. Make sure the tabs are in place and securely click into place.

4. Check the cable adjustment as described in paragraph 5.

Models with electric throttle control

5. Using a flat-head screwdriver, press the locking tab (Fig. 6.5) and slide the pedal towards the center of the passenger compartment. Disconnect the electrical connector plug once it is accessible.



6. When installing the pedal, first connect the electrical connector and push the pedal into the support, When installed correctly, you should hear two clicks of the locking clips and the side of the pedal should be flush with the edge of the support.
