Checking and adjusting the front wheel alignment angles (BMW 5 Series E12)

After checking or repairing the front axle or performing steering operations, check the front wheel alignment angles. Only the front wheel toe-in can be adjusted.

Checking and adjusting wheel alignment angles is performed on special optical or mechanical stands according to the instructions.

Check the air pressure in the tires, the condition of the wheel rims and make sure that the mark on the steering gear housing matches the mark on the steering knuckle shaft, i.e. that the front wheels are in the straight-ahead position.

Place the vehicle under load (see "Detailed technical specifications").

Check the front wheel alignment angles, the longitudinal angle of the steering axis and the wheel turning angles in sequence.
