Before MY 1978
Remove the wheel and hub cap.
Loosen the castellated nut.
Tighten the nut to a torque of 1 kgf·m while turning the wheel hub to self-align the bearing rollers and remove excess grease.
After tightening the nut, loosen it about a third of a turn. In this case, the lock washer with an inner toe should be able to rotate a small angle to the left and right.
Fix the indicator on the hub, adjust it with a preliminary force, then rock the hub in the axial direction, reading on the indicator the value of the clearance in the bearings, which should be as small as possible (cm. «Detailed Specifications»).
From model year 1978
Remove the front wheel and hub cap.
Loosen and loosen the castle nut of the hub.
Tighten the nut to a torque of 3.0-3.3 kgf·m, while turning the wheel hub to self-align the bearing rollers and remove excess grease.
After tightening the nut, rotate the hub at least two times without tightening or loosening the hub nut.
To obtain the desired axial clearance in the bearings, loosen the castle nut, then tighten it with a torque of no more than 0.3 kgf·m and lock it with a cotter pin.
If the clearance in the hub bearings is adjusted correctly, then the washer with the inner toe under the hub nut should move effortlessly.
