Adjusting the shift balancer (BMW 7 Series E38)

Adjusting the shift balancer


1. Set the selector lever (1) to position "P" and loosen the nut (2).

2. To avoid deformation of the cable drive, be sure to hold the unit from turning using tool No.24 5 210 by the clamping screw.

Tool No.24 5 210 can only be installed when the lever is in the "P" position.


3. Move the balance beam (3) forward (parking position), press the rod (4) against the direction of movement and release it again.

4. Secure the rod (4) with the nut (2), holding the unit from turning with tool No.24 5 210.
