Replacing the AT mode switching mechanism bracket (BMW 7 Series E38)

1. Follow the steps described in paragraphs c 4 to 6 Section Removal and installation of AT and torque converter.

2. Remove the selector lever handle by pulling it upwards with force.

3. Separate the decorative panel of the AT selector lever from the center console and lift it up.



4. Disconnect the connectors.



5. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the PNP sensor.



6. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the selector lever together with the support bracket by pulling it up and then towards you.





7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. The switch pin must enter the recess in the selector lever. The rim of the rubber seal must fit against the mat of the central tunnel.
