Removal and installation the PNP sensor (BMW 7 Series E38)

Below is a description using the example of AT A5S 440Z.


1. Remove the rear engine accessory protection panel.

2. Remove the left and right heat shields.

3. While holding the clamping sleeve (1), give the nut (2).

When installing, adjust the selector lever.


4. Use a screwdriver to remove the locking plate and pull out the rod (2).

5. Support the AT with devices No.00 2 030/24 5 301/24 00 250.

6. Loosen the bolts by approximately 10 mm and lower the AT by this amount.

7. Loosen the nut (1) and remove the balancer (2) from the control unit.
