The clearances in the valve drive mechanism are adjusted by slightly opening the valves by turning the adjusting eccentric of the rocker arm, after first loosening the lock nut.

Clearances in the valve drive mechanism. The normal clearance between the rocker arm eccentric and the end of the valve stem, measured with a feeler gauge on a cold engine, is 0.15-0.20 mm for the intake and exhaust valves of 4-cylinder engines, and 0.25-0.30 mm for 6-cylinder engines.
