Replacing the centering bearing of the primary shaft of the gearbox (BMW 5 Series E12)

Press out the bearing with the protective washer, felt ring and protective cover from the crankshaft flange socket using the Kukko puller.

Thoroughly clean and blow out the bearing seat in the crankshaft flange with compressed air.

Fill the new bearing 1 (see photo) with universal grease and press it into the crankshaft flange seat using a mandrel. Install the protective washer 2, directing its convex surface away from the flywheel. Install the felt ring 3, having first dipped it in melted animal fat. Press the protective cover 4 until it stops in the bearing.
