Removal and installation steering rods (BMW 5 Series E34)
Removal
Loosen the wheel bolts.
Raise the front of the car and remove the wheel.

Loosen the nuts.
Press out the steering tip joint using a suitable puller.
Press and remove the steering rod.
Installation
Before installing the steering rod, check the control dimension A between both pivot pins. Specified value: A = 534 + 1 mm.
Insert the middle steering rod and screw it to the steering knuckle arms with new self-locking nuts with a tightening torque of 35-40 Nm.
Insert the outer tie rods and tighten them to the middle tie rod using new self-locking nuts with a tightening torque of 35-40 Nm.
Put the wheel on.
Lower the car.
Tighten the wheel bolts crosswise to 110 Nm.
Adjust the convergence on an optical stand (at the service station).
