Removal and installation the release bearing (BMW 5 Series E34)

If the release bearing is defective, noise can be heard when the clutch pedal is pressed.

Removal

Remove the gearbox.



Remove spring clip 7 and release lever 4 with release bearing 3 from the gearbox shaft.

Check the release bearing by hand. To do this, lightly squeeze and rotate the bearing. It should rotate easily, otherwise replace the release bearing.

Installation

Lightly lubricate the lubrication groove N, guides F and bearing surfaces L Longthern 2.

Caution: For a composite flywheel, lubricate the keyways with Microlube 261.

Place the release lever with the release bearing on the gearbox shaft and secure with a spring clip.

Install the gearbox.
