Rear suspension assembly — removal and installation (BMW 7 Series E32)

Removal



Remove the exhaust system.

Remove the driveshaft.

Remove the handbrake cable.

Pump out the brake fluid from the brake system expansion tank.

Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor.

Remove the rear seat.

Disconnect the plugs of both pulse sensors.

Remove the ride height adjustment switching valve.

Remove the rods.

Disconnect the camber alarm sensor plug.

Pull the brake cables out of the guides.

Disconnect the right and left brake lines.

Disconnect the speedometer pulse sensor cable plug, while squeezing the two earrings.

Remove the mounting plate.

Support the final drive gearbox with a lift.

Remove the rods from the bottom plate.

Unscrew the nuts securing the rods to the rubber blocks.

Unscrew the mounting nut on the rear rubber block at the top.

Disconnect the shock absorber struts from the diagonal arms.

Lower the rear axle complete with diagonal arms, wheels and gearbox and remove.

Installation



Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
