Removal and installation the cooling system radiator (BMW 7 Series E38)
Models with engines other than M57 and M67
1. Drain the coolant (see section Replacing the coolant Chapters Vehicle settings and routine maintenance).
2. Remove the fan shroud (see section Removal and installation the fan shroud).

3. On models with K/V disconnect the thermal switch connector.

4. Remove the upper coolant hose.

5. Remove the spring clip (1) and remove the water hose (2). Unscrew the bolts (3) on the radiator on the left and right sides and remove both brackets (4).

6. Remove the lower coolant hose.

7. Disconnect the electrical wiring connector (1), remove the spring clip and remove the water hose (3).

8. Release the right and left radiator mounts by pressing the latch with a screwdriver.
To install the mount, press it down firmly (several clicks should be heard), then use a screwdriver to lift the fastening tab and press the screwdriver handle down.
9. Remove the cooling system radiator from the engine compartment by moving it upwards.
When installing, pay attention to the rubber-metal hinges on the left and right sides - insert them into the holders.

10. Installation is carried out in the reverse order, finally fill the cooling system and bleed it (see chapter Vehicle settings and routine maintenance).
Models with M57 engine
1. Cover the generator to prevent engine oil, fuel or coolant from coming into contact with it.
2. Drain the coolant (see section Replacing the coolant Chapters Vehicle settings and routine maintenance).
3. Remove the fan shroud (see section Removal and installation the fan shroud).
4. Disconnect the upper and lower cooling system hoses from the radiator.
5. Perform the actions described in paragraphs c 8 to 10.
Models with M67 engine
1. Remove the fan shroud (see section Removal and installation the fan shroud).

2. Unscrew the plug and drain the coolant.

3. Disconnect the connector (1), loosen the clamp (2) and disconnect the water hose. Remove the expansion tank (3).

4. Remove the clamps (1) and disconnect the water hoses (2).

5. Perform the actions described in paragraphs c 8 to 10.
