Removal and installation the brake drum (BMW 3 Series E21)
Removal
Raise the rear of the car and remove the wheel.
Loosen the adjusting eccentrics and loosen the parking brake cable.
After unscrewing the mounting bolts, remove the brake drum.
Installation
Inspect the brake drum. Check the radial runout of the drum, which should not exceed 0.05 mm. If there are deep scratches or excessive ovality on the working surface of the drum, bore the drum on a machine. Then, also on the machine, grind the drum with fine-grained abrasive bars.
Install the brake drum. Adjust the clearance between the brake shoes and the drum and the parking brake system.
