Disassembly and assembly of the wheel cylinder (BMW 3 Series E21)

Disassembly

Remove the wheel cylinder.

Remove the protective caps and take the pistons, seals and spring out of the cylinder.

Wash the wheel cylinder parts.

Assembly

Regardless of the technical condition, replace the seals every time the wheel cylinder is disassembled.

Check for rust in the cap grooves on the cylinder. Remove rust if necessary.

Apply a thin layer of brake cylinder paste to the cylinder mirror, piston surface and seals.

Insert the spring into the cylinder.

Replace the seals and pistons.

Place the protective caps on the cylinder.

Reinstall the wheel cylinder and bleed the hydraulic system to remove air.
