Removal and installation the parking brake cable (BMW 3 Series E46)

Removal

1. Remove the brake lever, refer to the relevant section.

2. Remove the parking brake shoes, refer to the relevant section.



3. Remove the brake shoe lock by removing pin "1".

4. Unscrew bolts "3" and remove the brake cable support.

5. Disconnect the cable and pull it out of the protective tube.

Installation

1. Route the cable to the brake lever and to the rear brake.

When inserting the cable into the protective tube, make sure that the cable support is in contact with the protective tube.

2. Connect the cable to the plastic clamp.



3. Insert the cable support into the cable and secure it to the brake shield with two bolts "2".

4. Assemble the parking brake, refer to Section Removal and installation parking brake shoes.



5. Install the brake lever, refer to the relevant section.

6. Adjust the brake, refer to the relevant section.
