Removal and installation the turn signal / wiper switch (BMW 3 Series E46)

The turn signal and windshield wiper switch are removed in the same way. The procedure is described using the windshield wiper switch as an example.

Removal

1. Remove the steering wheel, refer to Section Removal and installation the steering rod end.

2. Remove the lower and upper steering column covers, refer to the relevant section.



3. Loosen the mounting screws "1" and remove (arrows in the illustration) switch support.



4. Press in the plastic clips (arrows in the illustration) and remove the turn signal switch "2" from the support "1".

5. Remove the windshield wiper switch in the same manner.

Installation

6. Secure the turn signal/wiper switch and lock into place.

7. Install the switch support and secure it with screws.



8. Install the upper and lower steering column covers, refer to Section Removal and installation steering column trim.

9. Install the steering wheel, refer to the relevant section.

10. Set the steering column to its normal position.
