Hood — opening and closing (BMW 3 Series E46)
Unlocking

Pull the handle located on the left side under the front panel.
Carrying out car maintenance work requires special knowledge. Before performing any work in the engine compartment, turn off the engine and let it cool down. Before starting work on electrical equipment, disconnect the battery terminal. Follow the relevant rules and instructions. If you do not have sufficient experience, it is better to perform the necessary work at a branded service station. Opening

Pull the locking handle to lift the hood.
Closing

Press the hood lightly on both sides at the same time (the places of pressing are shown by arrows) or release it from a height of approximately 10 cm. A clearly audible click indicates that the hood is locked.
To avoid injury, be careful not to pinch anyone when closing the hood.
If you find while driving that the hood is not properly latched, stop immediately and close it properly.
