Hood — opening and closing (BMW 5 Series E39)
Rubbing

Pull the handle located on the left side under the front panel.
Before performing any work in the engine compartment, turn off the engine and let it cool down.
Before starting work on electrical equipment, disconnect the battery terminal. Follow the relevant rules and instructions. If you are not familiar with the mandatory requirements, it is better to perform the necessary work at a branded service station. Unqualified handling of units, parts and materials during vehicle maintenance and repair may harm your personal safety.
Opening

Pull the locking handle to lift the hood.
Closing

Press the hood down on both sides at the same time until you hear it click into place.
If you find while driving that the hood is not properly latched, stop immediately and close it properly.
