Brake fluid level
The hydraulic system warning light is on: the brake fluid level in the reservoir has dropped too low (refer to Section Checking fluid levels).
If the brake fluid level in the reservoir has fallen below normal, and the pedal travel has increased significantly, then one of the two hydraulic brake circuits may be faulty.
Refer to chapter materials Brake system and follow to the nearest HUNDRED BMW. When driving, you may need to apply more force to the brake pedal, and the braking distance itself may increase. Keep this in mind when choosing your driving style.
Brake pads
The brake pad warning light is on: the pads are almost worn out. Refer to chapter materials Brake system and at the first opportunity, go to the service station to replace them.
For replacement, use only brake pads approved by BMW.
Power steering
In case of heavy steering stroke, check the oil level according to the instructions in Section Checking fluid levels.
If difficulties arise when trying to quickly turn the steering wheel, refer to Section Troubleshooting and follow to check at a BMW workshop.
If the hydraulic booster fails, the force required to turn the steering wheel increases.
