Running in a car (BMW 3 Series E46)
Follow the guidelines below to help extend the life and fuel economy of your vehicle.
Engine speed and rpm may vary, but their values should not exceed the following limits:
Cars with gasoline engines:
Diesel cars: 3500 rpm, 150 km/h
Do not press the accelerator pedal to the full throttle position or maximum acceleration mode.
After running the first 2000 km, you can gradually increase the revs and speed.
The running-in rules must also be followed if the engine or rear axle gearbox is replaced during subsequent operation.
The technology of tire manufacturing does not guarantee optimal grip of new tires on the road. Therefore, it is recommended to drive more moderately during the first 300 km.
Optimal running-in and load absorption by the brake pads and discs is achieved only after a mileage of approximately 500 km.
