Types of tire wear (BMW 3 Series E46)
Wear on the side of the treadmill
Low tire pressure (wear on both sides)
Low pressure causes the tire to overheat due to its increased deformation. The tread does not hold the road well, which causes additional slippage of the tread and its wear, not to mention the possibility of damage to the tire due to its overheating. Check and adjust the pressure
Incorrect wheel alignment (wear on one side)
Repair or replace suspension parts.
Sharp turns
Slow down!
Wear of the center of the treadmill
High blood pressure
Increased pressure causes wear on the middle part of the treadmill; the tire has poor grip, the ride becomes "hard", the risk of cord breakage increases when the wheel hits an obstacle. Check and adjust the pressure.
If you occasionally need to overinflate your tires to carry heavy loads or drive at high speeds, be sure to return the pressure to the nominal level afterwards.
Uneven wear
The front tires may have uneven wear due to misalignment. Service stations can identify and correct this problem.
Incorrect wheel alignment or kingpin caster
Repair or replace suspension parts.
Incorrect suspension operation
Repair or replace suspension parts.
Unbalanced wheels
Balance your tires
Incorrect convergence
Adjust convergence
Note: Sharp tread edges, indicating wear due to improper toe-in, are best detected by touch.
