When loading the roof rack, the height of the car's center of gravity increases, which significantly changes its dynamic qualities and controllability. Incorrect loading of the rack may result in damage to the car body. Therefore, when loading the rack, make sure not to exceed the rack's load capacity, as well as the permissible limits of the maximum permitted vehicle weight and axle load.
The optimal choice for your car will be a trunk (or a ski case), recommended by BMW. When installing the rack, use the instructions supplied with it; the mounting points of the luggage rack should be as far apart from each other as possible.
Loads placed on the roof rack should be distributed evenly and as compactly as possible. Heavy items should be placed at the bottom.
Correct and reliable fastening of the stowed load will prevent it from shifting or falling from the vehicle while it is moving (which poses a danger to those driving behind).
You should move evenly, avoiding sudden acceleration and braking, as well as reckless driving on turns.
A loaded roof rack increases the vehicle's drag. As a result, fuel consumption increases and the load on the roof increases.
If the roof rack is not used, it is better to remove it.
Observe the traffic rules governing vehicle loading.
