1. Wash, preserve and specially treat the engine, engine compartment, body bottom, axles and other units in accordance with the recommendations of the BMW service department. Wash and clean the car outside, clean the interior, treat the paintwork and chrome parts with preservative compounds. Clean the rubber seals of the hood, trunk lid and doors and cover with talc or glycerin oil.
2. Warm up the engine and change the oil and oil filter. As an additional measure to protect against corrosion, it is recommended to add anti-corrosion additives to the fuel (in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions). Let the engine run for a while after this.
3. Check the coolant level and concentration, adjust if necessary.
4. Check the electrolyte level in the battery, add distilled water if necessary.
5. Do not leave liquids in the windshield washer reservoir or lines.
6. Fill the fuel tank completely to prevent corrosion from condensing moisture.
7. Inflate the tires to 4 bar.
Immediately before storing the vehicle, dry the parking and service brakes by braking while driving to protect the brake discs and drums from corrosion.
Place the car in a dry and well-ventilated area, engage reverse gear or move the AT control lever to the "P" position. Place wheel chocks under the wheels if necessary. Do not tighten the handbrake!
Remove the battery, fully charge it and store it in a cool, but not freezing, room. Recharge the battery no later than 3 months later, otherwise it will fail.
The air conditioner should be turned on for a short time at least once a month (especially in the cold season), otherwise there is a risk that the compressor shaft seal will dry out and the refrigerant will leak. In this case, the engine must be warmed up to normal operating temperature (the coolant temperature gauge needle should be approximately in the middle of the scale), to avoid moisture condensation and corrosion of the internal surfaces of the engine. If the car is not equipped with air conditioning, then it is not necessary to start the engine during storage.
Caution: If you start the engine in an enclosed area, ensure there is adequate ventilation as the exhaust gases are highly toxic.
Resumption of vehicle operation
Charge and connect the battery.
It is recommended to contact a BMW service station for maintenance according to the regulations "Inspektion I".
