Maintenance and care activities for a vehicle temporarily in storage (BMW X5 E53)

If your car is temporarily in storage, you must:

conserve the exterior paintwork every 6 months (every 4 months for hot climates);
release the parking brake;
set the automatic transmission gear selector to position "P";
check the interior lighting conservation;
increase tire pressure to 3.5 bar;
turn off AB;
recharge the battery without disconnecting it from the vehicle's network every 6 weeks;
recharge the battery disconnected from the vehicle's network every 12 weeks;
charge the battery before using the vehicle;
replace brake fluid when parked for more than 6 months and before use;
change engine oil and oil filter after parking for more than 12 months;
check the concentration of antifreeze before starting operation;
check the service and parking brakes before starting operation;
turn on the air conditioner once a month for 10 minutes; if you use R 134a refrigerant, this may not be necessary.
