Removal and installation the front energy absorbing buffer (BMW 5 Series E39)

Removal

Remove the front bumper.

On the left side of the vehicle, unscrew the 3 bolts securing the air flow guide.



Unscrew the mounting bolts -2/3- and remove the energy-absorbing buffer "1", having first loosened the clamp "4" for the wires and unscrewed its fastening.

Installation

Insert the energy-absorbing buffer and tighten the fasteners: bolts with a 13 mm socket head to 50 Nm, and bolts with an 8 mm socket head to 10 Nm.

If removed, install the air flow guide.

Screw on the wire clamp and secure the wires.

Install the front bumper.
