Removal and installation the rear energy absorbing buffer (BMW 5 Series E39)
Removal
Remove the rear bumper.
Unscrew fastening "1" and remove the energy-absorbing buffer.
Installation
Place the energy-absorbing buffer so that the middle finger "2" is located on top. Tighten the mounting bolt, but do not tighten it too much.
Remove the plug from the bumper.
Install the rear bumper.
Tighten the bolt "1" of the energy absorbing buffer to a torque of 45 Nm
Install the plug on the bumper.
