Heating system. General description (BMW 7 Series E32)

            0

Outside air for heating is sucked in through the air intake grille of the air filter housing for the cabin under the windshield and then forced into the passenger compartment by the fan. In this case, the air passes through the heater core and is sprayed by cable-controlled flaps to the various air outlet nozzles. When the heating mode is on, cold air is directed through the heater core. The radiator is located in the heater housing and is heated by hot coolant (coolant). Outside air entering it is heated by the hot fins of the radiator and then enters the passenger compartment. The power of the heater is controlled by the coolant flow, i.e. the temperature is controlled by regulating the amount of coolant passing through the radiator, namely through two coolant solenoid valves in the cooling circuit.

The interior temperature can be selected using the rotary control for the right and left side of the interior. The electronic control unit in the control part of the heating system regulates the opening time of the heater valve depending on the interior temperature. The interior air temperature sensor is located behind the heater housing. Thanks to the electronic control, the temperature is maintained almost constant regardless of the vehicle speed or outside temperature.

To increase the power of the heater, a fan is used, which is continuously adjustable.
