Removal and installation of the instrument cluster and its components (BMW 7 Series E38)

1. Extend and lower the steering column to the stop.



2. Remove the screws and slide the instrument cluster forward.

Cover the steering column with a cloth.

3. Disconnect the connectors and remove the instrument cluster.



4. If necessary, replace the electronic unit of the instrument cluster. To do this, press the clamps, fold back the brackets and disconnect the connectors.





5. Press the latches and, moving them to the side, remove the electronic unit.

After installation, the unit must be programmed using a diagnostic tool.

6. If necessary, replace the instrument cluster illumination bulbs by turning and removing their sockets.
