Removal and installation of control units (BMW 7 Series E38)

Door control unit

1. Remove the door trim (see chapter Body).



2. Disconnect the connectors, remove the screws and remove the door control unit.

Rear Window Sunblind Control Unit

1. Partially remove the rear seatback or the side panel of the right rear seatback (see chapter Body).



2. Disconnect the connector (1), unscrew the screw (2) and remove the control unit.

Remote control unit

1. Partially remove the rear seatback or the left rear seatback side panel (see chapter Body).



2. Disconnect the connector (1) and the antenna cable (2). Loosen the nut (3) and remove the remote control unit.

SRS control unit

1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.



2. Slightly press the ventilation grille and the bar or heater control unit apart. Release the bar or heater control unit from the upper holders and remove it. Move it down approximately 30÷40 cm and remove the ventilation grille.

When installing, insert the central part of the ventilation grille and push it all the way in an upward motion, then install the trim or heater control panel.

3. Disconnect the connectors and remove the heater control panel or trim.



4. Loosen the nuts and lift the SRS control unit.

Before installing the SRS control unit, make sure that the ground wire is placed on the mounting stud (1).

5. Disconnect the connector and remove the SRS control unit.
