Removal and installation of sensors and antennas of auxiliary systems (BMW 7 Series E38)

Rain sensor

1. Remove the interior rearview mirror.



2. Squeeze the lid from the sides, move it slightly upwards, hook it and remove the lid.

When installing, align the cover with the sensing element (black glass ceramics).

3. Disconnect the connector.



4. Pull out the mounting clips in the direction of the arrow and remove the rain sensor.



5. When installing, do not damage the optical element located under the rain sensor.

Parking assistance system sensors

1. Remove the rear bumper center trim (see chapter Body).



2. Disconnect the connector and remove the sensor.

3. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Side airbag sensors

1. Turn off the ignition

2. Remove the front seat and the door sill trim on the corresponding side (see chapter Body).



3. Fold back the carpet in the front seat area. If necessary, remove the hot air duct in the rear of the cabin.



4. Disconnect the electrical wiring connector.





5. Remove the screws and side airbag impact sensor.

When installing, the arrow (1) on the side airbag impact sensor must point towards the channel. Remote control antenna

1. Remove the trim from the shelf behind the rear seat (see chapter Body).



2. Disconnect the antenna cable from the control unit. Remove the adhesive tape and remove the cable.

3. When installing, make sure that the ends of the removed cable lie horizontally on the shelf.
