Removal and installation the wiper arm bracket (BMW 7 Series E38)

Bracket (assembled)

1. Remove the air intake box and wiper arms (see section Windscreen wipers and washers).



2. Fix the hood in the installation position by disconnecting the struts from it and screwing the bolts into the hinges.



3. Remove the screws and remove the cover.

4. Turn on the windshield wipers briefly and turn off the ignition so that the windshield wiper motor stops outside the rest position.



5. Disconnect the connector. If the windshield wiper motor is faulty, remove the arm (1) and turn the rods and levers until the screws (2) become accessible.



6. Remove the screws (2 and 3) and remove the wiper arm bracket.

Electric motor

1. Remove the wiper arm bracket assembly.



2. Loosen the nut (1) and remove the lever (2) from the electric motor shaft. Unscrew the bolts (3) and remove the windshield wiper drive electric motor.

During installation, only the electric motor may be secured with bolts (3).

3. Remove the windshield wiper arm bracket and operate the windshield wiper until the motor comes to rest. Place the arm (1) on the shaft so that the rods (4 and 5) are in line.
