The vehicles covered in this manual meet the requirements of the SAE J1819 child safety standard.
To ensure the safety of the transport of young and middle-aged children, special child seats and restraints should be used, interfaced with standard seat belts. Detailed instructions for the placement and installation of child seats must be included with them, if necessary, consult your BMW representative.
Always seat your child on rear car seat and secure the child securely using a child seat or seat belt. Do not hold a child on your lap, do not allow a child to stand, kneel or move inside the passenger compartment while the vehicle is in motion. The child seat must be installed in the middle seat of the rear seat. If it is not possible to use the middle rear seat, use the side rear seats. The front passenger seat must not be used to mount a child seat, especially if facing rearward. Deployment of airbags in a collision could cause serious injury or even death to a child.
If it is necessary to place a teenager or a middle-aged child in the front passenger seat, move the seat as far as possible from the front airbag and fasten the child with the seat belt, or place the child in a forward-facing child seat secured in the front passenger seat with the seat belt. An additional cushion can be placed on the seat so that the seat belt is in the correct position on the body of a teenager.
When using a child seat that uses an additional strap, secure it to the anchor points provided for this purpose.
