Fuel filler cap cup (BMW X3 E83)

Replacing the fuel filler cap



1. Remove the fuel filler cap.

2. Remove the fuel filler flap servo.

3. Turn the cover (1) by approx. 45° and remove in the direction indicated by the arrow.

4. Remove the rubber buffer (3).

5. Press the retaining strap (1) inwards and unhook it.

6. Remove the cover (2).

7. Pull the seal (4) inwards.

8. Insert a suitable tool into the holes (3) and unlock the fasteners.

Note: When installing, make sure that the seal (4) is positioned correctly.


Caution: If the seal (4) has been removed, the seal (4) must be folded inward.

  • The clamps (1) of the pusher (2) must not be damaged.
  • When installing, it is necessary to check that the cap (3) is installed correctly.


Note: The fasteners (1) on the left/right side of the cover (2) must not be damaged.

9. Close the lid (1).

10. Detach the cup (2) from the wing in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove it.

Note: The following parts of the cup (6) must not be damaged or lost:

  • 1. Rubber buffer.
  • 2. Top/bottom locks.
  • 3. Spring.
  • 4. Retainer.
  • 5. Guide.


11. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.
