Attention! All work carried out on the engine fuel system is fire hazardous and requires increased safety precautions.
Replacing the fuel filter of a gasoline engine does not cause any difficulties, the frequency of its replacement is 40,000 km of the vehicle's mileage, depending on the operating conditions and the quality of the fuel, it is recommended to change it every 40,000 km.
To replace the filter, place the car on a level surface, preferably on a lift, overpass or inspection pit, and apply the parking brake. Protect the generator and relieve pressure in the fuel system by removing its pressure regulator. The fuel filter is located below, on the right side member near the rear passenger seats and is connected to the pipes using clamps. Clamp the inlet and outlet hoses using devices (Fig. 2.42), remove the fuel line clamps on the filter and disconnect the filter from the mounting clamps on the side member.

The collected fuel should be sent for disposal. When installing a new filter, make sure that the arrow on its body points in the direction of the fuel flow towards the engine.
It is recommended to replace the diesel engine fuel filter every 20,000-30,000 km of vehicle mileage, depending on operating conditions and fuel quality, it is recommended to change it more often. The filter should be replaced in the following order. Turn off the ignition, protect the generator, disconnect the SS (2, Fig. 2.43), unscrew the bolt (1) and remove the fuel filter unit pressure sensor (3).

Loosen the fastening clamps (4) and disconnect the fuel lines. Unscrew the bolt (5) and remove the fuel filter unit (6).
The installation of a new fuel filter should be carried out in the reverse order, while it is necessary to check the sealing ring on the pressure sensor (3) and, if necessary, replace it.
Remove air from the fuel system by turning on the ignition for about one minute. This will start the fuel pump and fill the fuel cooler with fuel, displacing the air.
