Removal and installation the airbag module on the front passenger side (BMW X3 E83)

Attention:
  • Observe safety regulations when handling airbag system modules and seat belt tensioners with pyropatrons.
  • Unqualified handling may lead to the deployment of the airbag™ and, as a result, to injury to personnel.


Attention:
  • After each airbag deployment, the front passenger airbag cover must be replaced.
  • It is possible that the airbag cover fastening tapes were damaged when the airbag was deployed.
  • When using a damaged airbag cover again, it cannot be guaranteed that the fastening straps will reliably perform their function.


1. Disconnect the negative cable from the starter battery.

2. Remove the airbag compartment cover.

3. Open the glove compartment and fold back the fuse holder.

4. Unlock and disconnect the connector (1).

5. Loosen the screws securing the front passenger airbag module (1).

Tightening torque: 6 Nm.

6. Remove the front passenger airbag module (1).

Note: Pull out the cable and do not allow it to be pulled when removing the front passenger airbag module (1).


7. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.
