Power supply system characteristics (BMW 3 Series E21)
Fuel tank
The fuel tank is stamped from sheet steel. It has two sections and is mounted under the rear seat in front of the rear axle.
Fuel tank capacity, l: 58.
Brand and type of drain valve for cars with carburetor engines: PE 20 439.
Fuel pump
On cars with carburetor engines, a mechanical diaphragm-type fuel pump of the Pierburg brand is installed, driven by a pusher from the intermediate shaft.
Pump performance at crankshaft speed of 4000 rpm, l/h, not less than: 55.
Fuel supply pressure at crankshaft speed of 4000 rpm, kg/cm²: 0.21-0.30.
Pusher length, mm: 36.
Thickness of the heat-insulating spacer assembled with the gasket, IM-201 0.15.

Air filter
Air filter - with replaceable dry filter element.
Brand and type: "320": Purolator PH 1680 or Mann C 4 190; "323i" Purolator PM 1645.
Carburetor
The engine of the model "320" automobiles is equipped with an OVG (Solex) 4A1 emulsion type carburetor, two-chamber, with sequential opening of throttle valves, with an automatic starting device and a thermostatic auxiliary starting device (to start a warm engine). At forced idle speed, the forced idle economizer is activated. Carburetor type according to the DVG catalogue E 17 603.

Colour of the nameplate: blue.
