Protective molding replacement
Protective moldings are attached to the body with plastic spacer clips.
Remove the protective molding with your hands or by hooking it with a wide plastic spatula.
As a rule, when removing the protective molding, the plastic tips are removed along with the brackets. Therefore, you must first remove the bushings from the pins and insert them into the corresponding holes in the body.
Straighten bent moldings before installation.
After that, align the molding so that the brackets match the holes and snap into the clips. If necessary, drive the pins with blows of the palms.
Replacing the strip with the inscription of the model on the tailgate
Remove the decal trim from the body with a thin nylon cord. To make it easier, moisten the cord with a solution of dishwashing detergent and wrap both ends of it around wooden sticks. Lightly heat the bar with the inscription with a hairdryer.
Rinse off adhesive residue with alcohol.
Heat up a new bar with an inscription with a hair dryer to about 50°C, remove the protective film, align and press it against the body for 10 seconds.
BMW emblem replacement
Carefully pry off the BMW emblem with a screwdriver, lay a rag to protect the paint.
For better bonding, before installation, apply an elastic sealing mass under the emblem.
