Withdrawal
Remove inner door trim.
Remove the foam lining at the top of the door.
Remove window glass.
Remove bolt -1-. Detach glass guide rail from below and tilt forward. Release the wiring, disconnect the connector.
Use a screwdriver -2- to open the door handle through the hole in the front side of the door. Remove the cap first.
Through the vacated hole in the door, press the crossbar with a screwdriver. This releases the door handle trim, which can be removed. The figure shows the deadbolt with the door handle removed.
Attention: When installing the pull-out length, a suitable hook is required.
Detach connecting rod on door lock from clip -3- with fingers.
Remove the door handle cover.
Disconnect all door lock connectors.
Note: The connectors cannot be mixed up during installation, as only the corresponding connectors fit together.
Loosen nut -arrow-.
Loosen the nut (with BMW tool 512070). The nut can also be carefully loosened with a screwdriver as shown in the figure.
Attention: Do not scratch the paint, cover with adhesive tape. Replace nut if damaged.
Pull the door handle out of the door cutout.
Installation
Insert door handle and lock cylinder and screw down.
Connect all connectors.
Connect the connecting rod to the lock and fix it. Set the rotary latch to position "closed" and also turn the key in the lock cylinder to the position "closed".
Check all closing functions.
(Drawing W 48118) Place the door handle trim on the outside and through the hole in the door above the lock with a suitable hook (e.g. BMW 513140 or HAZET 2184-2) Pull out bolt -arrow-. In this case, the facing of the door handle is fixed. The figure shows the deadbolt with the door handle removed.
Position trim and slide retaining frame from inside through door frame.
Connect and screw down the glass guide rail from above with a tightening torque of 10 Nm.
Install window glass.
Install door seal and trim.
