Removal and installation the window lifting mechanism (BMW 3 Series E36)
The description of work with an electric window lifter is given. The working operations with a mechanical window lifter differ accordingly.
Remove the inner door trim.
Carefully remove the seal from the door cutout.
Unscrew and detach the inner door handle.
Lower the glass by approximately 30 cm.
Helper hold the glass.
Remove the retaining clips with a screwdriver.
Press the glass out of the spherical cups of the window lift levers "6" and move the guide upwards by hand. Secure the glass with a suitable hook so that it does not fall.
Carefully drill out 4 arrow rivets with a 6 mm drill.
Loosen the bolt on the guide rail.
Remove the window lift mechanism assembly.
If necessary, unscrew the motor from the window lift mechanism (3 bolts).
Insert, align and screw the window lift mechanism. Replace the drilled rivets with M6 x 10 mm bolts during installation. Screw on and tighten the nuts with 6.4 mm diameter washers from the rear. Tightening torque: 9 Nm.
Lower the glass, insert it into the guide and secure it with 2 clamps.
Screw the guide rail in accordance with the marking made.
Connect the window lift motor connector and carefully raise and lower the window.
Check if the glass is adjusted correctly, the upper edge of the glass should be parallel to the window frame and the glass should be evenly immersed in the window seal. The outer seal should fit evenly against the glass, otherwise wind noise will be heard when moving.
Carefully glue the door seal to the cutout and install the inner door trim.
Removal
Remove the inner door trim.
Carefully remove the seal from the door cutout.

Unscrew and detach the inner door handle.
Lower the glass by approximately 30 cm.
Caution: For safety reasons, disconnect the window lift motor connector (Figure W48246. "7"). Risk of injury!
Helper hold the glass.

Remove the retaining clips with a screwdriver.

Press the glass out of the spherical cups of the window lift levers "6" and move the guide upwards by hand. Secure the glass with a suitable hook so that it does not fall.
Carefully drill out 4 arrow rivets with a 6 mm drill.

Loosen the bolt on the guide rail.
Note: Mark the position of the bolt with a felt-tip pen by outlining its head.
Remove the window lift mechanism assembly.
If necessary, unscrew the motor from the window lift mechanism (3 bolts).
Installation
Insert, align and screw the window lift mechanism. Replace the drilled rivets with M6 x 10 mm bolts during installation. Screw on and tighten the nuts with 6.4 mm diameter washers from the rear. Tightening torque: 9 Nm.
Lower the glass, insert it into the guide and secure it with 2 clamps.
Screw the guide rail in accordance with the marking made.
Connect the window lift motor connector and carefully raise and lower the window.
