Removal and installation glass door window: coupe (BMW 3 Series E36)
Removal
Remove the inner door trim.
Remove the film from the door cutout.

Remove the window shaft seal with clamps.

Lower the glass approximately 250 mm below the top edge of the door.
Caution: For safety reasons, disconnect the window lift motor connector. Risk of injury!
Turn the door lock latch to the "closed" position. When the door lock is closed and the window lift motor is disconnected, the electronic control circuit is reset and automatic raising and lowering of the window is excluded.
Loosen the rear guide rail bolts (Figure W 48271).

Loosen, without unscrewing, bolts "1" and "2" of the front guide rail.
Connect the window lift motor connector and lower the window approximately 190 mm below the top edge of the door.
Disconnect the window lift motor connector.

Unscrew bolt "1", release bolt "2" and remove the rear glass stop mount.
Connect the window lift motor connector and lower the window approximately 110 mm below the top edge of the door.
Disconnect the window lift motor connector.

Remove the frame retaining clips from the glass.
Pull the window lift lever out of the glass and place it at the back of the door.

Unscrew bolt "1", release bolt "2" and remove the rear glass stop fastening. Pull the glass up.

If necessary, remove the glass frame mount.
Note: Press the door handle so that the lock latch returns to the open position and the door can be closed.
Installation
Insert the glass and screw on the front glass stop.
Insert the window lift lever into the guide. Insert the locking bracket.
Connect the window lift motor connector and lower the window approximately 190 mm below the top edge of the door.
Disconnect the window lift motor connector.
Screw on the rear glass stop mount.
Tighten the front glass guide rail bolts (Figure W 48272). Be sure to tighten the front glass mounting bolts first.
Connect the window lift motor connector and lower the window approximately 250 mm above the top edge of the door.
Tighten the rear guide rail bolts.

Insert the window shaft seal with the clips, while maintaining the correct position of the rear rubber seal.
Perform a preliminary adjustment of the glass with the interior door trim removed, especially if parts have been replaced.
Install door trim.
Adjust the glass.
Initialize the window lifter electronic control circuit. Close the doors and raise the window fully. Continue to hold the switch down for approximately 5 seconds.
The reference point for automatic lowering of the glass is the mechanical stop of the window lifting mechanism when the window is closed. Therefore, it is necessary to initialize the control circuit in the manner described above after each repair or adjustment.
