Replacement and adjustment of sliding door glass (BMW 7 Series E38)
Front door glass replacement
1. Remove the outer window protective molding and adjust the position of the door glass.
2. On models with a side airbag, remove it.
3. Remove the glass with a backward/upward movement, bringing it out from the outside of the frame
Adjusting the front door glass
1. Remove the door trim (see section Removal and installation trim and soundproofing of the front door).
2. On models with a side airbag, remove it.

3. Detach the rear edge of the sound insulation to expose the bottom screws and secure the screen with adhesive tape (1).
4. Connect the window switch to the wiring harness connector in the door and release the front door glass.

5. Loosen the screws and lift the glass until a gap of 10 mm from the edge of the door is formed. Disconnect the window switch.
6. When installing, adjust the glass position in the longitudinal direction and in height (parallelism). To do this, move the glass in the loosened clamping pads in the longitudinal direction, then lift the rear clamping pad (the glass should be recessed into the clamping pads) and tighten the rear shoe screw first, then the front shoe screw.

7. Adjust the gap size (A) and (B) between the edge (front and top) glass and window frame trim. (A) = 5.4 mm, and (B) = 10 mm.
Rear door glass replacement
1. Remove the rear door sound insulation.
2. Pull out the outer lower seal and the side rubber glass guides.

3. Loosen the screws and remove the cover.

4. Remove the screw and lift the door glass up.
5. Tilt the door glass and remove it with an upward movement, pulling the rear edge forward/outward.
