Replacing protective pads

The protective pads are attached to the body parts with plastic expansion clamps.

Remove the protective pads by hand or with a wide plastic wedge.

As a rule, when pressing the protective pads, the plastic inserts are also removed along with the release clamps. Therefore, first press the plastic bushings off the pins and insert them into the holes of the corresponding part of the body.

Straighten any bent protective pads before installation.

After this, align the pads with the brackets relative to the holes and secure them. If necessary, hammer in the expansion pins with hand blows.

The model designation attached to the body with glue can be separated using a thin nylon cord (fishing line) and remove. To make the operation easier, treat the nylon cord with soap and wind it on wooden blocks at both ends. Heat the model designation slightly with a hair dryer.

Remove any remaining adhesive with alcohol or an adhesive remover, such as 3M Adhesive Cleaner.

Heat the new designation with a hair dryer to approximately +50°C, remove the protective paper, align it and press it to the gluing location for approximately 10 seconds.

Replacement of the BMW emblem

Carefully press the company emblem with a screwdriver. To avoid damaging the protective pack, put a handkerchief underneath.

Before installation, for greater assurance, apply a body sealant under the emblem that maintains elasticity for a long time.
