Replacing protective pads
Protective pads are attached to body parts with plastic expanding brackets.
Remove the protective strips by hand or with a wide plastic wedge.
As a rule, when squeezing out the protective pads, the plastic inserts are also removed along with the expanding brackets. Therefore, first press the plastic bushings off the pins and insert them into the holes in the respective body part.
Straighten bent protective strips before installation.
After that, align the pads with staples with respect to the holes and fasten. If necessary, drive in the expanding pins with hand strokes.
Replacing the model designation on the trunk lid/tailgate
Separate the model designation glued to the body with a thin nylon cord (fishing line) and take off. To facilitate the operation, treat the nylon cord with soap and wind it around wooden bars at both ends. Heat the model designation slightly with a hair dryer.
Remove adhesive residue with alcohol or an adhesive remover such as 3M Adhesive Cleaner.
Warm up the new designation with a hair dryer to about +50°C, remove the protective paper, align and press for about 10 seconds to the place of gluing.
Replacing the emblem of the company BMW
Carefully pry out the company logo with a screwdriver. In order not to damage the protective pack, lay a scarf.
Before installation, for a greater guarantee, apply a body sealant under the emblem that retains elasticity for a long time.
