Attention: The cable connecting the hood latch of the engine compartment must be adjusted without play. The cable sheath must be fully inserted into the guide in the lock. Otherwise, when the hood cable is engaged, the cable will slip in the guide, due to which the lock may not open.
Cable adjustment
Remove Emblem "kidney" BMW.
Disconnect the cable in places above the holes for the clamps of the decorative grille.
Adjust the cable with an adjusting device so that it does not have any play. For clarity, the cable and locks are shown in the removed position in the figure.
Install decorative grille.
Hood trim on the sides
Loosen bolts -3- and -4- on left and right bonnet hinges.
Align the hood of the engine compartment with respect to the front fenders on the sides and front.
Attention. If there is not enough adjustment range, loosen the hood hinge bolts on the body and move the hinges relative to the body.
Tighten the hinge bolts.
Loosen both bolts of the locking pin.
Close the hood several times so that the locks can center.
Attention: Do not close the hood until it clicks into place.
Tighten the bolts of the locking pin.
Adjustment of a cowl of a motor compartment in front on height
Loosen lock nut -1- and turn locking pin -2-.
By screwing in and out of the locking pin, adjust the engine compartment hood in height so that it is located approximately at the level of the front fenders. In this case, a parallel clearance with respect to the front cladding must be provided.
Tighten locknut.
Check how the locks and the locking hook close and, if necessary, repeat the adjustment.
