Removal and installation the side trim of the trunk (BMW 3 Series E46)

Left side trim



Removal



1. Remove the bulb holder in the rear light, refer to Section Replacement of incandescent lamps for outdoor lighting.

2. Remove the floor covering.

3. Remove the spare wheel cover and jack.

4. Remove the emergency triangle holder. To do this, remove the rivet.

5. Disconnect the trunk wall trim at the outer edge.

6. Remove the rivet at the top center of the left side trim.

7. Tilt down towards the center of the vehicle and remove the side trim.

Installation



Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

Especially for cars with reclining rear seat back

9. Remove the side of the rear seat back.

10. Lift the back forward and remove the rivet from the front top of the side.

Right side trim



Removal



11. Remove the bulb holder in the rear light, refer to Section Replacement of incandescent lamps for outdoor lighting.

12. Remove the floor trim and the spare wheel and jack cover.

13. Pull the emergency release of the fuel tank cap slightly. Disconnect the cable from the handle.

14. Rotate at 90° (1/4 turn) clamp in the center at the top of the right side and thus release it.

15. Disconnect the trunk wall trim at the outer edge.

16. Remove the visor partially at the top in the front, tilt the side forward towards the center of the car and remove.

Installation



Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
