1. Disconnect the tie rod joint from the steering knuckle (see paragraph 25). Turn out screws of fastening and remove protection of a crankcase of the engine.
2. Note the location of the cover, then remove the clamp (s) and remove the cover from the rack and from the steering rod.
3. Thoroughly clean the tie rod and rack housing with sandpaper. Remove any traces of rust that might interfere with a snug fit of the new cover. Remove the grease from the old boot and apply it to the inner tie rod joint (this is only possible if the old cover has not been torn through).
4. Carefully put a new cover on the steering rod and on the rack housing. The outer end of the cover must be located on the rail in the same way as before removal (pic. 24.4, a, b).
5. Make sure. that the new cover is not twisted, then lift the edge of the cover to release excess air from under it. Secure the cover with a new clamp (clamps).
6. Install the tie rod end (see paragraph 25).
