1. Remove the tie rod ends (see section Removal and installation tie rod ends).
2. Cut the clips at both ends of the old covers and remove the covers.
3. While the boots are off, inspect the seals at the end of the steering gear. If they are leaking, replace the steering gear.
4. Put on new protective covers and install new clamps.
5. Install the tie rod ends (see section Removal and installation tie rod ends).
